Canadian employers obsess over efficiency. They cut costs, streamline processes and spend lavishly on consultants promising to shave seconds off workflows.

But the greatest inefficiency in corporate Canada is not operational or financial.

I was reminded of this by a brilliant speech given by my friend Moez Kassam, the 2025 Global Citizen Award honoree for the United Nations Association in Canada.

Chair of Anson Funds, he spoke about how discovering inefficiencies in the market drives his firm's returns. He now applies that same principle to the charitable giving he and his wife, Marissa, direct toward healthcare, education, sport, food security and housing.
