Employment and Labour Lawyer, 1–5 YEARS' CALL

Levitt LLP is seeking Employment and Labour Lawyers with 1–5 years of call to join our dynamic and growing practice.

This role offers meaningful file carriage, direct client exposure, and the opportunity to build your own practice while working closely with senior counsel on complex employment and labour litigation. Our lawyers advise national and international clients on high-stakes employment, labour, and workplace matters and are frequently engaged in public and media-facing discussions on emerging legal issues.

The Opportunity

Levitt LLP is seeking an experienced Employment and Labour Lawyer with 4–12 years of call to join our dynamic and growing practice.

This role is suited to a senior associate or counsel-level lawyer who is looking to further develop a practice within a highly active employment and labour group. You will manage sophisticated employer and employee matters, collaborate closely with senior leadership on complex litigation, and provide strategic advice to national and international clients. The position also offers opportunities for media engagement, public commentary, and thought leadership in the employment and labour space.

The Opportunity

  • Primary carriage of both employer and employee employment and labour files
  • Strategic handling of complex and high-stakes litigation matters
  • Regular court appearances, mediations, and examinations

Accounting Clerk

Levitt LLP is seeking a full-time Accounting Clerk to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced law-firm accounting professional to work in a fast-paced, professional environment supporting a busy litigation practice.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Controller and play a key role in day-to-day accounting and billing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Financial Controller
  • Manage accounts receivable, including client follow-ups regarding outstanding payments
  • Prepare client invoices on a monthly basis
  • Process accounts payable
  • Prepare bank deposits and attend to banking as required
  • Complete bank reconciliations
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate financial records
  • Maintain filing and record-keeping systems
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of all financial and client records
  • Monitor billing and accounting issues and proactively flag concerns to the Financial Controller
  • Provide general accounting and clerical support as required

Qualifications and Experience

    • Minimum 2–5 years’ accounting experience in a law firm
    • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
    • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with GhostPractice is a strong asset

Legal Assistant - Civil Litigation

We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our busy and growing litigation practice. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in supporting complex civil litigation matters. Experience in employment and labour law is a strong asset.

You will provide high-level administrative and litigation support to lawyers, playing a critical role in the day-to-day efficiency of the practice. This position requires sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive-level administrative support to lawyers and contribute to overall office effectiveness
  • Prepare, transcribe, edit, format, and revise correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, motion materials, and other litigation documents
  • Proofread documents for accuracy, formatting, grammar, and compliance with court rules
  • Answer and direct telephone calls professionally
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of hearings, mediations, discoveries, and trials
  • Record, monitor, and diarize court appearances, filing deadlines, and procedural requirements
  • Coordinate service and filing of court documents with courts and administrative bodies
  • Schedule and manage discoveries, mediations, expert witnesses, and court-mandated proceedings

Qualifications and Experience

    • Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma from a recognized legal program
    • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a law firm environment, with a focus on civil litigation
    • Experience in employment and labour litigation is a strong asset
    • Strong working knowledge of Ontario’s Rules of Civil Procedure and court processes
    • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
    • Exceptional attention to detail, proofreading, and document production skills
    • Strong organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to meet tight deadlines
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with a team
